Adriana Grekova

Opera Singer


Born in Rousse, Bulgaria, she graduated the music lycuem in the city as a double-bass player, and in 1983 she obtained a master degree in singing from the Sofia Music Academy.


From 1983 to 1985, she specialised in the same academy as Ressa Koleva and Alexandrina Milceva. From 1986 to 1992 she taught singing in the Sofia Music Academy. In Bulgaria, Adriana sang as a live soloist in the National Opera Theatres in Stara Zagora and Sofia, as well as working as a soloist for the Sofia Philharmonic and Radio Sofia Orchestras, participating in the festival "The Musical Weeks of Sofia" and "Varna's Summer".


She has worrked in different productions with Cecilia Gasdia, Bruno Pratico, as well as taking part in opera productions made by Fabio Sparvoli and Daniele Abbado.


Adriana has a large repertory, including roles as a mezzo soprano singing Mozart, Verdi and Wagner.


In 2006 Adriana participated in the concert tour of "Studio Primo" in Italy where she sang an all Mozart concert and opera arias for mezzo sopramo contralto. In August 2007, she sanf the main role, Ascanio, int he first produciton of Mozart's opera "Ascanio in Alba" in Bulgaria, Varna. This version, the original with not cuts, was also performed with grand success in Varese, Italy in December 2007.


She worked as a soloist at the Opera House of the city of Rousse in Bulgaria in 2004-2006. Since December 2006, Adriana works as a teacher of the vocal arts at University of Music in Sousse, Tunisia.

In 1994, Adriana moved to Italy, where she still resides now. She has performed many recitals with her husband Todor Petrov (pianist), and also sang as a soloist with:
