Dmitry Yablonsky brings to cello playing an aura of charisma and old-school phenomenal musical Knowledge. Beginning at the age of 5 as a child prodigy in Moscow, Dmitry developed an impressive career which has taken him to the most important stages of the world and collaborations with most renowned musicians and artists. Grammy nominated, Dmitry plays two cellos: a Joseph Fillius Andrea Guarnieri and a Matteo Gofriller.


Being the son of the famed pianist Oxana Yablonskaya, Dmitry had the opportunity to emigrate with her from Russia to New York in 1977 where he had the great opportunity to study with outstanding teachers such as Lorne Munroe, David Soyer and Aldo Parisot. That was followed by studies at the Curtis Institute. A very successful career ensued in which he played the most varied cello repertoire with major orchestras around the world and in the company of great musicians and artists such as Penderecki, Berezovski, Mintz, Vengerov, Repin, Bashmet and many others. His multiple recordings include a multi-awarded piano trio with Boris Berezovsky and Vadim Repin for Erato/Warner and a recording of all 40 Popper etudes for solo cello, for Naxos.


Dmitry Yablonsky is currently the Music Director of Kiev Virtuosi.
