Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia

Composer & Conductor

Due to his spiritual nature and his experiences as an organist and choir director, choral and organ music plays a large role in Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia's production: the transcendent dimension can be felt in his choral works such as Hymnus Sanctae Crucis, Missa brevis, Sanctus or in the organ works such as Walking in a Graveyard or Le Bapteme de la Solitude, recently recorded on the prestigious organ of Selby Abbey, England, by the organist Alessandro Licata.

The production also extends to the symphonic field, such as S-M-Epiphonien, commissioned by the Bari Metropolitan Orchestra in 2023.

The world premiere of his Syntropia, concert for accordion and orchestra, commissioned by PIF 2024, is imminent.

In the works for next year are the recording of his piano works (including the Sonata no. 2, awarded with a special mention at the WPTA Argentina in 2022) and the creation of a series of arrangements of Jobim on the thirtieth anniversary of his death.

Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia's style breathes tradition and reworks it in the light of the sound inflections of neotonalism or the transcendent dimension of contemporary Nordic music, with the use of harmonies occasionally borrowed from jazz.

The eclecticism of Alfredo Luigi Cornacchia is also transposed into the field of arrangement: various commissions in the orchestration or symphonic version of songs by Simone Cristicchi, Totò, Renato Carosone, to name a few, or film music from the years 70 (Trovajoli, Gato Barbieri, Piero Piccioni, Morricone, etc.).
