Conductor


Conductor Linus Lerner is praised for the charisma and passionate energy he brings to his musical performances, inspiring artists and transporting audiences. Equally at home on the symphonic podium, in the opera pit or as a show director, Lerner is currently one of the most internationally active Brazilian conductors conducting orchestras, operas and musical shows in Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, China, Colombia, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, United States, Russia and Venezuela.


Linus is the only Brazilian to record with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London and one of the first to conduct in China and South Korea, and the first Brazilian to conduct the Cairo Orchestra in Egypt. Lerner is also one of the few Brazilian conductors to perform at the renowned Carnegie Hall. Linus has already produced recordings with important record labels in the musical world such as “Naxos” and “Meridian” with excellent international reviews.


He is currently artistic director and conductor of SASO: Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra (USA); OSRN: Rio Grande do Norte Symphony Orchestra (Brazil); OSNH: Novo Hamburgo Symphony Wind Orchestra (Brazil), FeMusiK: Novo Hamburgo International Music Festival, Linus Lerner International Voice Competition and SASO International Lyric and Prolirica Festival of Antioquia (Colombia). He has performed at several opera festivals in Mexico, in the cities of San Luis Potosi, Oaxaca, Zacatecas and Zapopan, as well as at the Beijing Concert Hall in China. He also served as conductor of the Round Top Festival Hill (USA).


In 2202, Lerner was artistic director of one of the biggest Christmas shows in the world, “Nativitaten” in Gramado where he also directed the International Music Festival “Gramado in Concert” for 8 years. In addition to his work as a conductor of orchestras and choirs, maestro Linus Lerner had a career as an opera singer and continues to work as a vocal coach for students in several countries, in addition to several training projects for singing and conducting students.


Some important recognitions and honors received by Maestro Linus Lerner are the Ohtli Medal (the highest award from the Mexican government) for his work for the development of opera in Mexico; the Djalma Marinho Medal for his work with the OSRN (Orquestra Sinfônica do Rio Grande do Norte) in Brazil and the key to the city from the mayor of Tucson for his work in the musical community of this American city.


Lerner received a Doctor of Music degree in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Arizona, a Master of Music (Orchestral Conducting) from Florida State University, a Master of Music (Vocal Performance) from the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and a Bachelor of Music (Choral Conducting) ) from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.
